Lecture: Forum & Forum 2012 Architect Series #1

포럼앤포럼은 지난 3월과 6월, 올해를 관통하는 주제인 ‘건축의 비건축, 비건축의 건축’을 가지고 건축, 도시, 디자인, 현대미술, 패션, 영화 등 다양한 분야와 서로 이야기를 나누어왔습니다. 그리고 이번 9월에는 건축에 좀 더 초점을 맞추어 ‘포럼앤포럼 건축가시리즈’를 마련하였습니다.

그 첫 번째 시간으로, 서로 매우 다른 성격의 작업을 보여주고 있는 조병수 소장(Bcho Architects)과 조민석 소장(Mass Studies)을 초대해 각각 ‘경험과 인식’, ‘발견과 발명’이라는 키워드를 토대로 두 건축가의 작업에 숨어있는 건축적 혹은 비건축적인 고민의 흔적을 풀어낼 계획입니다.

건축가의 개별 프로젝트에 대한 이야기나 전문가의 리뷰를 통한 글은 여러 매체에서 어렵지 않게 찾아볼 수 있습니다. 하지만 같은 공간과 시간을 살면서 이만큼 상이한 작업을 하는 건축가들의 이야기를 한 자리에서 듣고 직접 나누는 기회는 갖기 어려운 것 같습니다. ‘포럼앤포럼 건축가시리즈’ 그 첫 번째 시간에는 한국적 감수성을 잘 보여주는 조병수 건축가와 무한한 상상력으로 기존의 틀을 깨는 조민석 건축가를 모시고 이들이 충돌하고 만나는 지점을 통해 ‘지금, 여기’의 건축의 모습, 그리고 관객으로 참여하는 ‘우리’의 모습도 되짚어 보는 기회가 되길 바랍니다.

Minsuk Cho will open the new edition of Festarch in Italy with a presentation of the recently completed Daum headquarters on Jeju Island.

He will be joined by Stefano Boeri for the official opening on Thursday, 7 June 2012 (8pm).

Venice Biennale 2010: Asian View of Life

Mass Studies and 7 other architects exhibit their work for the Venice Biennale of Architecture 2010's Collateral Events.


Under the main theme of "Asian View of Life," 8 architects Cho Minsuk, Tan Kay Ngee, Nobuaki Furuya, Duangrit Bunnag, Ling Lee-Huat, Wang Lu, Yu Jian and Wang Xingtian present their work, the Octvillas, located in Hangzhou, China.

Venice Biennale 2010: Sehnsucht

Minsuk Cho's drawing is on display at the German Pavilion for the Venice Biennale of Architecture 2010, alongside drawings from about 200 architects invited.

Named "Architektonische Sehnsucht" ("architectural longing"), the collection is one of the exhibitions of the German Pavilion, whose main theme for this Biennale is "Sehnsucht," meaning "Longing."
